About CORA

CORA is the collateral intelligence platform for asset-based lending and private credit. In ABL, the collateral is the credit, yet most lenders still manage it through emailed spreadsheets, monthly field exams, and manual borrowing base reviews. CORA connects borrowers and lenders through a shared, real-time view of collateral health, liquidation value, and credit risk. We are Boston-based and built by people who have spent years running field exams and appraisals.

The platform is live with borrowers across ABL and term loan facilities, and the roadmap is deep: automated eligibility and borrowing base calculation, continuous NOLV analytics, field exam lifecycle management, and portfolio-wide risk intelligence. You will build the software that an entire lending market runs on, alongside a founding team that knows the domain cold.

Role Overview

The Platform Software Engineer designs, builds, and operates the core systems of the CORA platform: the data ingestion pipeline that turns messy borrower files into structured collateral data, the calculation engine that produces eligibility, ineligibles, and borrowing base availability, and the analytics and dashboard surfaces that lenders and borrowers use every day. This is a full-stack role with real ownership; you will ship features end to end, from data model to API to interface, and see them used by credit teams within days.

What You Will Build

  • Data Ingestion: Deterministic pipelines that ingest AR agings, inventory reports, general ledger data, and borrowing base certificates from heterogeneous client systems, with validation, reconciliation, and full auditability.
  • Calculation Engines: The eligibility and borrowing base engine: ineligible rules, advance rates, reserves, concentration limits, and NOLV-based inventory analytics, computed accurately and explainably every time data arrives.
  • Analytics & Risk Intelligence: Portfolio-wide risk scoring, trend and migration analysis, dilution and aging analytics, and the alerting that turns data into early warnings for credit teams.
  • Client-Facing Surfaces: The lender dashboard and borrower portal: performant, intuitive interfaces for reviewing collateral positions, executing borrowing base certificates, and managing field exam workflows.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, test, and operate features across the stack, from data pipelines and APIs to front-end components.
  • Own data correctness: build validation, reconciliation, and audit trails so every number the platform shows can be traced and defended.
  • Translate collateral domain logic (eligibility rules, advance rates, reserves, NOLV methodology) into precise, well-tested code in partnership with domain experts.
  • Improve reliability, performance, and security of the platform as client volume grows, including monitoring, alerting, and incident response.
  • Contribute to engineering standards: code review, testing discipline, documentation, and pragmatic architecture decisions.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Experience: 3 to 6 years of professional software engineering experience building production web applications or data-intensive systems.
  • Backend: Strong proficiency in Python and SQL, including designing data models and building data pipelines or calculation-heavy services.
  • Frontend: Proficiency with modern JavaScript or TypeScript and React, and the judgment to build clean, fast interfaces for data-dense workflows.
  • Cloud & Infrastructure: Experience deploying and operating services on AWS or a comparable cloud platform, including CI/CD and infrastructure fundamentals.
  • Data Rigor: Demonstrated care for correctness, testing, and auditability in systems where the numbers must be right.
  • Domain Curiosity: Interest in financial data. Prior fintech, lending, accounting, or analytics platform experience is a plus; deep ABL knowledge is not required, we will teach you the domain.

Key Attributes

  • End-to-End Owner: You ship complete features and stand behind them in production.
  • Precision Under Ambiguity: You turn loosely specified business rules into exact, defensible logic, and you ask the right questions to get there.
  • Pragmatic Builder: You choose boring technology that works, automate what should be automated, and know when good enough is good enough.
  • Low Ego, High Standards: You give and take direct code review, document what you build, and make the codebase better than you found it.

Compensation

$100,000 to $150,000 base salary, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
